JIMMY RECKONS GOING GREEN SHOULD BE SECOND NATURE At Jimmy Possum we are passionate about our people, we are passionate about our product and we are passionate about improving the ecological impact of our homes, businesses, schools and communities: country and city. That’s why we’re going green. Now, we know that ‘going green’ is a big commitment, and it’s going to take some time. But, we do things ‘full on’ at JIMMY POSSUM, and going green is no exception. That’s why JIMMY POSSUM’s mission is to have a ‘POSITIVE ECOLOGICAL IMPACT’ by the year 2019, and we’re challenging all other Aussie businesses out there to follow suit. To get the ball rolling, Jimmy & the Possums got their heads together to generate some goals in the green department, and to help us along the way we’ve employed Ian, our JPEE (JIMMY POSSUM Environmental Engineer). In just a few short months, we’ve implemented systems and changes that have reduced our energy and water consumption and our waste output dramatically. We’ve even done away with a hazardous chemical or two. Some of our short-term goals include reducing our energy consumption by 30%, and our waste and water consumption by 60% by June 2008!!! We’re researching alternative energy for our factory, bio-fuels for our fleet and constantly developing new and innovative ways to design, produce and sell our beautiful product, in line with our POSITIVE ECOLOGICAL IMPACT goal. Jimmy & The Possums know we have a long road ahead. We want the way we do business to become pro-environment, improving eco-systems and giving back to the globe, rather than just minimising impact. At JIMMY POSSUM, we firmly believe that we have a responsibility to aim for a zero ecological impact, and then go beyond. So, we’re gonna go for it! And, we also know it’s going to take more than just goals, there will be all sorts of challenges along the way. But, by 2019, we reckon going green will be second nature, get it? It’s a passion.
